Sungate Energy Solutions uses direct current in their roof solar panel system. Direct current is produced by numerous sources and the name defines what it is which a single directional flow of electricity and is produced by batteries, thermocouples, and solar cells. It may flow through conductors such as wires, electrons, beams, semiconductors or even through a vacuum.

If you think of a straight line moving from one point to another, that would be what direct current looks like. If you took a straight line and run a curved line in one continual motion above and below the straight line, you would have alternating current. So, direct current runs in one direction and alternating current runs in more than one direction. Direct current is used by solar panels because solar panel systems convert sunlight into direct current electricity. Then there is a power inverter which takes the direct current and changes it to an alternating current which is identical to the power sent to your home from power companies’ utility grids.

The reason the converter is important is because eventually the solar panel system will produce excess power which will either be banked for you by your power company or will be refunded to you which will be reflected in your utility bill.
